Several improvements from Georgia and New York were added to the
list this week including a personal best by William Krokey (Woodstock,
GA) and a huge improvement by Greg Davis (Woodstock, GA).
The best Georgia mark, however, was a personal best of 56'07.50" by
Lauren Chambers (Kell, Marietta, GA ). Chambers, only a sophomore, now
has the unofficial sophomore national class record. Kate Johnston
(Warwick Veterans Memorial, RI) set the record in 1999 at 53'07.75".
Chambers now tops the season's performance list. Three other top woman
also improved last week brining a total of five women over 50 feet so
far this season.
National record holder Walter Henning (St. Anthony's, South
Huntington, NY) made his season debut in the weight throw. He threw the
35# weight 62'01.25". That makes Henning the early season leader with
that implement. The mark also surpasses his personal best of 59'07.00"
from last season.
