Walter Henning (LSU) again showed his consistency with another strong mark of 72.47m to win the Penn Relays on Saturday.  Henning easily outdistanced the rest of the collegiate throwers across the country.  Senior John Freeman (Georgia) had a big personal best to produce the second best mark.  Freeman had struggled so far this spring with all of his five previous competitions under 63 meters.  However, he added a meter and a half to his personal best with a new best of 67.13m.

On the womens side Nikola Lomnicka (Georgia) was dealt her first loss of the season.  The national leader took was second best college thrower (third overall) at the Drake Relays.  Gwen Berry (Southern Illinois) threw a personal best of 62.26m to produce the top collegiate mark at the meet.  Sarah Grimm (Utah) threw 63.14m to produce the best mark in the NCAA over the weekend and to get a personal best for the second straight week.

In the pro ranks, A.G. Kruger won the first ever home meet held at Ashland University and produced the top mark by an American this year.  Kibwé Johnson took second place.  Chris Rohr, competing at Drake, also threw over 73 meters for the first time and produced his second personal best in two weeks.  After some impressive results last weekend, most of the top women were a few meters back this week.  Amber Campbell again had the top mark and placed 7th at the first ever IAAF Hammer Challenge event in Dakar, Senegal.
