After a week's delay, here are the results from the NACAC U23 Championships held last weekend in Miramar, Florida. The NACAC Championships brings together the best athletes Under 23 athletes from the United States, Canada, Central America, and the Caribbean. The men's hammer competition was won by Chris Cralle of Sam Houston State. Cralle has made significant progress under the radar this year. As a junior last year, he threw 65.53m and placed 15th at the NCAA Championships. He improved to 71.09m with an eight place finish at the USA Championships this year and had two more attempts over 70 meters in Florida. He also upset NCAA champion Walter Henning (LSU), showing that Cralle will be a big factor at the NCAA Championships next year. Third place in the men's competition went to USC's Trey Henderson.
Jeneva McCall of Southern Illinois added a few inches to her personal best with a throw of 64.17m to place second in the women's competition. She competed alongside her collegiate teammate Gwen Berry (Southern Illinois), who placed third. Berry also threw a personal best despite having five fouls in the competition.
