The first major post-collegiate meet of the season took place this weekend with many of the nation's top men and women opening their season at the Mt. SAC Relays. Drew Loftin and Chris Rohr both threw well to place as the top Americans, while Amber Campbell improved her personal best to win the women's competition over an international field. Campbell's new personal best of 72.59m moves her ahead of Jessica Cosby and Brittany Riley on the all-time U.S. list. She now has the second best throw ever in America, just four feet behind Erin Gilreath's six year old American record. The throw also ranks seventh in the world so far this season. A.G. Kruger also opened his season at the Sea Ray Relays with a throw of 72.77m.

Meanwhile, the collegiate throwers took a back seat and many rested up this weekend. The top men's results were all from D2 and D3 throwers. Eric Flores (Cal Lutheran) competed in three meets over the weekend including a season best effort of 69.64m. Amanda Bingson (UNLV) continued her impressive early season with by placing as the top collegiate thrower at Mt. SAC. Her best of 66..72m was more than three meters than the other collegians over the weekend. Jenny Ozorai's (USC) had the next best throw of the weekend, as she produced a season's best effort at Mt. SAC.
