Jessica Cosby took home her fourth US National title on Saturday in a close competition over defending champion Amber Campbell. Cosby took the lead in the third round with a throw of 71.33m, which was good enough to hang on for the win. Cambell, meanwhile, was in just fifth place entering the final round, before breaking 70-meters on her last attempt to secure a sport on the national tem. While Cosby and Cambell both had the World Championship 'A' qualifying standard, they needed to place in the top three to guarantee a spot on the national team. Now they will both automatically qualify for a spot on the US team for the meet.

The third and final spot on the national team is up in the air. Third place finished and former D3 champion Keelin Godsey threw a personal best of 68.90m. However, her mark was 10cm short of the World Championship standard she needs. Fourth place finisher Jeneva McCall also has not achieved that standard so far this year. Beacuse they placed in the top foud, both Godsey and McCall will have until the start of August to throw 69.00m and win a spot on the national team.

McCall was also the top collegiate finisher at the meet. Gwen Berry, her teammate from Southern Illinois, also made the finals and finished 6th. Teammates Chelsea Cassulo and Amanda Bingson from UNLV placed 9th and 14th respectively, whil Marissa Minderler of USC was 12th.
