The biggest headline of the weekend came out of Ohio, where A.G. Kruger became just the fourth man ever to break 25 meters in the weight throw. His new personal best of 25.18m also moved him up one spot to third on the all-time world rankings and easily gives him the 2012 world lead. In the college ranks, Alexander Ziegler (Virginia Tech) opened his season with a throw of 22.07m, his best mark since 2010. Ziegler, who placed second at the indoor NCAA championships and won the NCAA outdoor championships, now has the second best mark in the NCAA, however NCAA leader J.C. Lambert (Southern Illinois) was nearly two meters under his best this weekend with a throw of just 20.82 meters. Jeremy Postin (Florida) also was impressive over the weekend by adding more than a meter to his personal best.

NCAA women's leader Jeneva McCall (Southern Illinois) continued her consistent season with a throw of 22.84 meters. All three of her meets so far this year are well over her best entering the season. Her training partner, US leader Brittany Riley, was not able to get over 80 feet again, but was also consistent with her second straight meet over 24 meters.
