That throw moves Welch ahead of Davis Fraker (McIntosh, Peachtree City, GA), who also improved last week, and less than two feet behind national leader Alec Faldermeyer (Minisink Valley, Slate Hill, NY). The national championships are just a few weeks away and it should be an exciting competition.
