Walter HenningWith just two weeks to go until the NCAA Championships, it is crunch time. There is no time to improve your technique, no time to get stronger, only time to focus and prepare. Last weekend, Walter Henning (LSU) proved he is ready for the NCAA Championships. Henning has had a strong year so far. He has improved his results in ever competition, with personal bests in his last three meets. He threw 23.80m, a best of nearly two feet, to win the SEC title last weekend. You can watch a video of the throw on our site.  That mark puts him nearly a meter ahead of Steffen Nerdal (Memphis) on the national performance lists. It also beat a great field (featuring three other athletes in the nation's top 15: South Carolina's Mike Zajac, Georgia's John Freeman, and LSU's Michael Lauro)by more than three meters at the site of this year's NCAA Championships. If Henning continues to perform at his best, he will be hard to beat in two weeks.

The CollegeHammer.com Athlete of the Week honor is awarded for the nation's most impressive male or female weight throw performance over the past week. Previous winners: Feb 23 - D'Ana McCarty (Louisville); Feb 15 - Jere' Summers (Louisville); Feb 8 - Alexander Ziegler (Virginia Tech); Feb 1 - Kristin Smith (Kentucky); Jan 25 - Marcel Lomnicky (Virginia Tech); Jan 18 - Jeneva McCall (Louisville)
