For example, Shelby Ashe (St. Pius X, Atlanta, GA) broke the national junior class record. There were also some stellar results at the Hartford Public Invite and Schomp Invitational.

Ashes’ record 59.89m (196’06”) record throw was at the Georgia Invitational
at the University of Georgia’s Spec Towns Track, Athens, GA on May 8, 2010.
 
This performance broke Casey Kraychir’s 57.99m (190’03”) record performance
set at the USATF Arizona State Championships, Mesa Community College, Mesa, AZ
on May 31, 2009.

Standards: boys’ 12# - 150, 6k - 145’, 16# - 140’; girls’ 4k 120’.
 
Although the 5k hammer throw is not normally contested in the U.S. it is conducted
in some meets. Boys’ 5k performances of 160’ or more in an officially sanctioned
meet will be included in the performance list providing the athlete is 16 or 17
years old through December 31, 2010 (born in 1993 or 1994) in accordance with
IAAF guidelines for Youth Athletes.
