The Division I NCAA Championship Preliminary Round (a/k/a Regionals) took place weekend and all of the favorites moved onto the finals. The top 12 finishers in each region moved onto the national finals which will take place in two weeks in Des Moines, Iowa. As with the men's competition, all of the favorites moved on. Amanda Bingson (UNLV) had the top result of 67.92m despite mediocre conditions at the West regional meet in Oregon. She held off a late charge by Jevena McCall (Southern Illinois) for the win and her teammate Chelsea Cassulo (UNLV) took third. In the east region, Dorotea Habazin (Virginia Tech) continued to show her consistency with a winning throw of 67.51m. Defending NCAA Champion Nikola Lomnicka took third and also moved on to the NCAA final. » Complete East Region Results Women Hammer Throw Qualifiers for the NCAA Finals ================================================================== Name Year School Regional Result ================================================================== 1 Amanda Bingson JR UNLV 67.92mD 2 Dorotea Habazin SR Virginia Tech 67.51mD 3 Jeneva McCall JR So.
