Results for the Weekend of 1/24/09

Jason Lewis (Arizona State) and Walter Henning (LSU) both automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships this weekend.  Lewis and Henning both set new school records of 22.04m (72-03.75) in their debut meets of the season.  That throw added more than three feet to the personal best Lewis set last season, while Henning added one inch to his personal best from last season.  Other big improvements on the men's side were by Zac Brouilette (Iowa State) and Dimitrios Fylladitakis (UTEP).

Stevi Large (Akron) had the top women's performance over the weekend.  Large moved closer to her personal best from last season with a throw of 21.25m (69-08.75).  Freshman Victoria Flowers (Connecticut) had one of the more impressive marks from the weekend.  Just a true freshman, Flowers threw a new personal best of 20.30m (66-07.25).  Flowers set a high school national record of 62-02.00 last season while a senior at Classical High School in Providence, Rhode Island.
