While most of the top men have yet to start their season, the top women came out in force this week. Jeneva McCall (Southern Illinois) opened her season with a two foot personal in December added more than a foot to her best this weekend. She now has a PR of 22.25m. Felisha Johnson (Indiana State) shocked everyone with a personal best of 22.31m to start the season last month. While she was not able to top it this past weekend, she showed the mark was no fluke with another good toss of 21.99m. Two-time defending NCAA champion D'Ana McCarty (Louisville) had just the fourth best mark of the weekend. However, we can't already forget that she beat McCall head to head in December.

In the post-collegiate ranks former Tennessee thrower Garland Porter improved his personal best by nearly two feet to a world leading 23.97m. European champion Libor Charfreitag also opened his season at 23.45m. US Champion Amber Campbell was among several women to debut and tossed 23.05m.
