Justin Welch (Eastwood, Pemberville, OH) broke improved his personal best by two feet last week and in the process broke his own Ohio state record and moved up to fourth best all-time in America.  Also on the boy's side, Nate Irwin (Cariho, Wood River Junction, RI) and Matt Lloyd (Camas, WA) both threw new bests and came within inches of breaking 200-feet for the first time.

On the girl's side, Karen Henning (St. Anthony's, South Huntington, NY) improved her sesaon's best by 5-feet and Robyn McFetters (Barrington, RI) threw a new best to win the Cumberland Invitational.

Although the 5k hammer throw is not normally contested in the U.S. it is conducted
in some meets. Boys’ 5k performances of 160’ or more in an officially sanctioned
meet will be included in the performance list providing the athlete is 16 or 17
years old through December 31, 2010 (born in 1993 or 1994) in accordance with
IAAF guidelines for Youth Athletes.
