CollegeHammer.com Outdoor Rankings Vol. 3
Published by
CollegeHammer.com NCAA Division I Hammer Throw RankingsVolume Three - 7 May 2010 Men: With many of the top throwers taking the weekend off, there were few changes on the men's side. Athlete of the week Trey Henderson was impressive, but likely won't move up until he can surpass 70-meters or those ahead of him start showing more inconsistency. James Rogan (Idaho) made his debut on the list at number seven after a strong few weeks of throwing.
Dropped from rankings: Branislav Danis (8) (Georgia). On the bubble (in alphabetical order): John Freeman (Georgia); Brad Millar (DePaul); and Matej Muza (Virginia Tech). Women: Less than ten feet seperates 2nd place from 11th place on the national performance list this week, making this week's rankings very hard to compile. Other than leader Nikola Lomnicka, no athletes have consistently shown they are better than the rest of the competition (and even Lomnicka has lost this season). Based on a great head-to-head win at the Jesse Owens Track Classic, Kristin Smith (Kentucky) returns to the rankinds in second position behind Lomnicka. Dorotea Habazin (Virginia Tech) and Alena Krechyk (Kansas) both dropped due to some inconsistent performances over the last month.
Dropped from rankings: D'Ana McCarty (8) (Louisville). On the bubble (in alphabetical order): Sasha Leeth (Southern Illinois); Nicole Luckenbach (Eastern Washington); and D'Ana McCarty (Louisville). The CollegeHammer.com rankings are subjective and take into account the following factors: head-to-head record versus top rivals, season's best, previous big meet performances (i.e. peaking ability), recent performances, consistency, personal best, as well as other factors.
